§ 2.20.010. Department of public works created.

  • The department of public works is hereby created. The department of public works consolidates the former department of engineering and general services and the offices of county engineer, traffic engineer, county surveyor, and road commissioner, and reorganizes the duties into the department of public works and its three divisions; maintenance and operations, which is primarily responsible for maintenance and operation of transportation facilities and municipal water/wastewater facilities; engineering services, which is primarily responsible for overseeing the engineering and construction functions related to transportation, development, and permit services, solid waste management, and municipal water/waste water systems; and administrative services, which is primarily responsible for overseeing the budgetary, programming, fiscal, and business functions. The department of public works shall be organized, managed, directed, and overseen by the office of development services or the office of the county administrative officer.
