§ 2.20.020. Office of director of department of public works created.

  • The office of public works director is created. The director shall be appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the board of supervisors, but shall report to and receive general administrative direction from the chief of development services or the county administrative officer. The director shall direct, plan, manage, and oversee the operations of the public works department and the divisions of the department subject to the direction of the board of supervisors and in compliance with state law and local rules. The director shall be and shall serve ex officio as the county engineer, county surveyor, county traffic engineer, and the road commissioner unless any such officer is otherwise appointed by the board of supervisors. The director shall have and maintain valid registration as a civil engineer by the state.
